Ambient Dialogues

Ambient Dialogues is an evolving collection of responsive musical systems designed for site-specific applications. The project revolves around the utilization of voice-activated musical phrases, triggered by specific spoken words, alongside a generative algorithmic composition. This approach allows the audience to unconsciously engage with the music, transforming public spaces into immersive auditory environments that blend sound, interaction, and atmosphere.

At the Erimtan Museum, Ambient Dialogues took the form of Ancient Volume, where probabilistic electroacoustic music added a film-like auditory layer to the historical artifacts on the museums main collection. The generative soundscape played unattended for two days, subtly manipulated by visitor interaction through voice-activated elements. This realization inspired potential applications in musical therapy.

For the Wizard & the Garden exhibition, Ambient Dialogues created a responsive soundscape that reflected themes of nature and mysticism. Visitors could influence the evolving music through spoken interactions near the artworks, deepening their connection to the collection and the environment in subtle, unconscious ways.

At the ArtAnkara Art Fair, Ambient Dialogues became part of 13%, a collaborative, interactive environment featuring kinetic sculptures, generative visuals, and sensory-driven soundscapes. The system integrated music into the dynamic interplay between artworks and visitors, utilizing loudness-sensitive triggers manipulating generative elements alongside motion-activated visuals to create a deeply engaging, interconnected experience.
